Let me start with a confession: I have had “launch Taking Off kids podcast” on my annual to do list for two years now. And with October having rolled around, I realise I don’t have much time to tick it off for 2021.
Do you want to launch a podcast by the end of 2021?
Over many years of self-employment, I’ve learnt that a fabulous motivation is to do something with a small group of wonderful people. I also know that there are many people in my circles who would like to start a podcast but haven’t got around to it, and a big part of this is that the initial learning curve is quite steep. It’s not difficult to make a podcast, but when you first start there are a lot of new things to figure out all at once, and a bunch of decisions to make, and it can be hard to get started.
Combine these two reasons and I decided that the Podcast Incubator Group was the answer to everything!! And then I quickly realised its acronym would be PIG, and that my son adores pigs, and would be easily convinced to make some graphics for me (see below!). See, it’s all falling into place!
How will PIG work?
The Podcast Incubator Group is going to be a one-off “work along with me” small group (max 12), starting 25 October, aimed at getting your podcast launched by early December – I’m doing the same with a new podcast, and I’ll be demonstrating all the steps along the way, and helping the participants to get it done too. I’ve found that for many people a barrier to podcasting is figuring out all the behind-the-scenes stuff (what software to use, how to upload, how to record) because there are a lot of choices, so hopefully this takes some of the pain out of that!
Basically the week-by-week plan is
- Week 1 Concept and equipment
- Week 2 Details: Title, format, artwork, frequency and length
- Week 3 Guests and scripts, find music; how to record: record interviews, start recording a trailer
- Week 4 How to edit: create trailer
- Week 5 Finish an episode
- Week 6 Finish another episode
- Week 7 LAUNCH!!!!!
We’ll work together in a Facebook group (combo of live calls and posts) where I’ll demonstrate each step and you’ll have full access to ask me questions along the way with anything you get stuck with.
To make sure we have the ideal group of people who are ready to start a podcast but just stuck at the “actually getting started” step, I’m running 15-minute Zoom chats before joining, just so I can check your podcast concept is ready and of course so you can ask me any questions you have too.
The cost to join will be $450+GST – and you will have a podcast out there in the world before Christmas!
Email me at amanda@amandakendle.com if you want to have a chat or think you’re ready to join PIG.

“I really wanted to start a podcast, but vacillated for about a year because I felt totally overwhelmed. I had no idea where to begin, or even what a lot of the terminology around podcasting meant.
“Then I met Amanda. She’s a brilliant teacher – supportive and encouraging and of course, having run her own podcast for more than 5 years, extremely knowledgeable about all things podcasting.
“She deconstructed the whole thing all into comprehensible, digestible chunks for me and metaphorically held my hand through the start-up process. I’m now heading into my 3rd year of podcasting and can honestly say that I’d still be ‘thinking about it’ if not for Amanda.”
