Hi there! I’m Amanda Kendle and I’m here to help you out with any social media, podcasting and digital marketing questions you might have.

I work with individuals, small businesses, organisations and government departments to run workshops or carry out consulting to help you use new technologies for great communication. I also do a lot of interviewing, panel facilitation and public speaking, from library talks to conference keynotes.

Over the years, I’ve been an early adopter of blogging, social media, podcasting and generative AI, and love helping you use these technologies to get important messages out to your audience.

A selection of my favourite work

I’m very lucky to do a huge variety of work with a lot of great clients. Some of my highlights over the years include:

  • Travelling across Western Australia for the Tourism Council of WA, delivering social media workshops in Kununurra, Geraldton, Albany and many more gorgeous parts of our state
  • Working on social media policy and procedures with Huntington’s WA, and helping develop their program to engage young people in the Huntington’s community
  • Consulting and workshop facilitation on a project giving voices to marginalised teenagers from CARE Schools with the I Have More To Say podcasts
  • Hosting a live podcast recording of The Thoughtful Travel Podcast at the inaugural SXSW Sydney
  • Consulting project to develop a social media strategy for the Heritage Council of WA
  • Facilitating multiple digital marketing multi-day courses for ADMA (Association for Data-Driven Marketing and Advertising)
  • Led workshops on travel writing and podcasting at the International School of WA

I have also lectured in the undergraduate and postgraduate programs in the School of Media and Communication at Murdoch University since 2019.

How did you start working in blogging, social media and podcasting?

People ask me this all the time. Fair enough, too! I started my career with a degree in mathematics, and later added a Masters in Education, which helped underpin my approach to running workshops. My online life started out during the years that I taught English in Japan and Europe and started writing travel articles for some online magazines. It wasn’t long before an editor told me about a regular job going on a travel blog, and even though I didn’t really know what a blog was, I jumped at the chance of getting a monthly cheque for my writing.

From there, the online world really opened up to me. My travel blog Not A Ballerina was born to bring together my writing and travel thoughts in one place, and I also had several regular blogging jobs. Some of the websites I worked for provided training in using social media to promote our work – introducing me to Facebook and Twitter, among others.

When my son was born in 2010 in Perth, Western Australia, I left English teaching completely to focus on work I could do largely from home, and my blogging and social media consultancy was born too. A few years later, I added producing The Thoughtful Travel Podcast to my passions, and this led to a whole raft of extra opportunities. Following my passions and saying “yes” to a lot of unexpected opportunities has really led to a very satisfying career, so far!
